Robert Hayward was born in Southern California, number nine of ten children, to very devoted and loving parents. Robert's upbringing completely contradicts the typical narrative of addiction being the result of bad parenting and broken families. Addiction is an equal-opportunity nightmare, no matter where you come from.

Robert has been married for forty years and has two sons, one daughter and four grandchildren. Robert is a prolific writer and has one previous book, "The Thirteenth Step" 'One Mans Odyssey of Recovery'(also available on Amazon). Robert has a degree in Alcohol and Other Drugs Studies (AODS), is a licensed counselor CADC-1, CCAPP, SUDP, Interventionist, and runs the Wellbriety Program on the Spokane Indian Reservation in Washington State. He wrote both books about his struggles and victory over alcoholism and addiction so that others can find that solution, and so those who know an addict or alcoholic can understand what they go through and why.

Robert is a recovering alcoholic and addict with sixteen years clean as of this writing.
